The Chicago Red Dress Party, which will be held on April 21, 2012 at the iconic Joffrey Ballet Studios, is an event dedicated to creating visibility for the HIV/AIDS movement and raising funds to build a stronger community. Through social interactions, Red Dress Party believes in the power of social interactions to change negative social constructs and eradicate discrimination from society.
The Red Dress Party began as a small party of men and women who donned red dresses to show their support for the HIV/AIDS movement. Over the past ten years, the tradition has gained recognition and grown to a national scale. The Red Dress Party has continued to raise awareness and now hosts thousands of attendees at events across the United States from Seattle to Chicago. The color red is an international symbol of HIV/AIDS awareness and attendees are encouraged to wear their "best red outfit."
